Dingoes celebrate season 2016

18th December, 2016

On December 18th 2016, the Osaka Dingoes held their annual Bonenkai Party (End of Year Party) at Matt Gale’s favorite Izakaya to help celebrate the relaunching of the club and the big plans ahead for 2017. This Izakaya is famous for its pizza, as well as the beer nozzles that are shaped like petrol bowsers.

Following the beers and pizza at the Izakaya, the boys journeyed to the heart of Osaka in Namba to the best bar in the city – Fiji Bar Osaka. Here they drank Fiji Rum and Fiji Bitter and discussed all things Dingoes footy into the late hours of the night. Get around the Dingoes in 2017, because the word is that the Dingoes are back in town and want to paint Osaka in their double-blue colours.

Dingoes players represent Japan in Asian Championships

18th October, 2016

The 2016 AFL Asia Championships were held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on Saturday October 15th 2016. The Osaka Dingoes had a strong representation within the Japanese touring team the Japan Goannas. Current Playing Coach Matt Gale was the Playing Assistant Coach, Current Treasurer Yazid Dardah played and also umpired several games, Former Coach Junji Tanaka and Former Captain Jun Oikawa were also valuable members of the playing squad, while Former Dingoes Player Derek Backhouse represented the Laos Elephants.

The Japan Goannas went down pretty convincingly to the China Reds in Game 1, were narrowly defeated by the Cambodia Eagles in the last kick of the match by 2 points in Game 2 and went onto beat the Macau Lightning quite comfortably in Game 3. Matt Gale booted 7 goals from 3 games, including 4 sausage rolls against the infamously Tom Liberatore-led Macau Lightning, which made headlines back in Australia and sent social media into a frenzy!
